This year too, we joined the reforestation campaign on Igman, organized by the Let’s Do It project. Representatives of VE Ivovik were among the hundred volunteers who planted 2,000 spruce seedlings (lat. Picea) at the Crni vrh location.
Afforestation, as well as the production of electricity from clean sources, is another way to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and improve air quality. It is estimated that the operation of the Ivovik Wind Power Plant will reduce CO2 emissions by 240,000 tons annually. Similarly, forests are a natural filter and producer of oxygen, which is why they are also called the “lungs of the city”. They are a natural habitat for numerous plant and animal species, and they provide people with peace and refuge from city noise.
Climate change, like never before, calls us to action to stop the degradation of nature and preserve our planet for future generations. It is our shared responsibility to implement sustainable practices, reduce carbon emissions and protect biodiversity. Every small effort contributes to a greater effect in the fight against climate change, so through collective awareness and action, we can create lasting change for those who come after us.
