On June 4, 2024, students and teaching assistants from the International University of Travnik visited the Ivovik Wind Farm. At the beginning of the visit, the company’s engineers introduced them to the project, its investors, capacities, and benefits, as well as the safety measures in place during construction.
A tour of the location of one of the 20 wind turbines was arranged, where the turbine construction process was briefly described to them, from geotechnical soil testing and foundation concreting to the assembly of individual parts. From this location, the students could see the entire connection transmission line.
They learned that our wind farm uses wind turbines from Goldwind, the world’s leading turbine manufacturer. These turbines are equipped with permanent magnet direct-drive (PMDD) generators, each with a capacity of 4.2 MW and a total weight exceeding 500 tons. To ensure their stability, a foundation 5 meters deep and 20 meters in diameter was constructed, with over 600 cubic meters of concrete.
At the end of the tour, we also visited the substation, where we presented the accompanying facilities comprising our wind farm and the high-voltage plant. Inside the Administrative building, students could see the control room from which our wind farm will be operated after commissioning.
The students demonstrated a high level of professional knowledge and interest, asking the engineers of VE Ivovik numerous questions about the construction process, the commissioning of the power plant, electricity production capacities, and more. The university staff expressed their gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge first-hand, and possibility of future cooperation was agreed upon.
